Zara hatke zara bachke release date ott platform
Actor Vicky Kaushal said that in the days leading up to the release of his latest film, the romantic drama Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, he could barely get any sleep. The film was releasing after a compact 15-day promotional window, with many naysayers ready to tear it down after a trailer that wasn’t entirely well received. Until, it surprised everyone with its business.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, co-starring Sara Ali Khan and directed by Laxman Utekar, released on June 2 and has put up an impressive total of Rs 30.60 crore so far. The numbers, especially in the context of its limited promotional window and a release which many dubbed as “hurried”, mean a lot to Vicky, whose last two features—Govinda Naam Mera and Sardar Udham—were released on OTT.
“We are here to celebrate the success of the film and to thank you. It’s a film, when its trailer was out, people said, ‘This is a prime example of a film that should’ve come on OTT’. Now that the film has worked in cinema halls, we are here to thank all of you. More than us winning, this is the victory of the audience. They’ve reiterated that only their power matters. Laxman sir was the most confident that everyone will connect with the film,” Vicky said at a special event to celebrate the film’s success.
The actor said Zara Hatke Zara Bachke was narrated to him right after the second wave of COVID, when situation was a “lot more tensed” with conversations like, “What’ll happen to Bollywood, what kind of films are coming, not coming.”
“And then a simple story like this came to me. I just knew this will connect with people. But in between, a lot of mind play also happens— that this film has released and worked, so only that kind of film will work and others won’t. In between all of this, maybe we forgot that we began with the thought that this film will connect with people. In the last five days, we have realised that this is what we would feel in all our meetings— that people will connect with it. Now that people are loving it, for us it’s even beyond numbers.”
Vicky thanked producer Dinesh Vijan for standing by the film and ensuring it gets a respectful theatrical release when he could’ve also taken it to OTT platforms. “I want to thank Dino, I’m so grateful. He had every logical reason to bring this on an OTT platform and he would’ve been completely correct in everyone’s eyes. But he took that risk of getting a film like this to cinema halls in today’s times,” he said.
